Background

TB-500 is the research designation for a synthetic fragment corresponding to the actin-binding domain of thymosin beta-4 (Tbeta4), a 43-amino-acid G-actin-sequestering peptide present in most mammalian cells. Research interest centers on its role in cytoskeletal regulation, cell migration, and angiogenesis, with the actin-binding sequence proposed as a key driver of the molecule's reparative activity in model systems.

Preclinical investigations have examined thymosin beta-4 and its fragments in dermal, corneal, and cardiac tissue-repair models, as well as in studies of vascular formation and inflammation modulation. The evidence base is predominantly experimental; TB-500 itself is not a clinically approved therapeutic.
