Background

SEMGX is a research analog related to Semax, a synthetic peptide based on a fragment (residues 4-10) of adrenocorticotropic hormone modified for metabolic stability. The Semax family has been studied for neuroprotective and nootropic effects, with proposed mechanisms including regulation of BDNF and its receptor TrkB and modulation of monoaminergic signaling.

The research literature, largely Russian in origin, includes rodent models of cerebral ischemia and cognition. Evidence remains predominantly preclinical.
