Research background
KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide (lysine-proline-valine) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It has been studied for activity in inflammation models that appears independent of melanocortin receptors, with proposed intracellular actions on NF-κB signaling and uptake via the peptide transporter PepT1 in intestinal epithelium.
Preclinical models of colitis and inflammation form the bulk of the evidence; KPV is a research compound without an approved indication.
